Near Dunlavin in county Wicklow stands the skeletal remains of Tober House, and though ruinous it is a fine example of an early 18th century minor Country House. When built circa 1720 it was a two-story house with basement, its believed the third story was added later. The Power family who built the home resided in it until around 1798 when it was destroyed by fire, possibly a victim to the 1798 rebellion. Tober House is a captivating ruin, only three outer walls remain and the mature trees that grow up from the basement only add to the skeletal feel of this site. The remaining walls are part rendered and part slate-clad, the roof has completely collapsed.
