Set in the shadow of beautiful ewe and pine trees is Ladychapel Cemetery. Situated in the townland of Cowanstown, a few miles outside Celbridge, the graves mostly seem to date from the late 18th and early 19th century. On the same site there is also a holy well and the remains of a late medieval church that pre-dates the graves by more than a century.

A very evocative site. Interesting to see a holy well here, sacred as you say before the church. Check out my blog insearchofholywellsandhealingsprings.wordpress.com for some interesting holy wells.
Thank for your kind words on the site, now following yours! Indeed Ireland is dotted with holy wells with secular significance not just the stories attached after the arrival of Christianity. Looking forward to following your site 🙂
