Feighcullen Church, Kildare, Ireland

Though petite in its size Feighcullen Church in Co. Kildare is still one of the finest examples of Gothic style architecture I have seen. This five-steepled church was built in 1829 and was designed by famous architect John Semple. John Semple worked for the ‘Board of First Fruits’ and designed several buildings for the Church of Ireland, Monkstown Church in Dublin is another of Semple’s treasures. The stonework at Feighcullen is near perfect and recent restoration on the roof and windows has taken place, five beautiful Gothic style windows line both sides of the church. Feighcullen has actually been for sale for quite some time with the price now almost halved at 189k! If anyone wishes to purchase this building as a beautiful and kind gesture please get in touch!

  1. What is wrong with Kildare or Ireland in general letting treasure like this be neglected? Is there no awareness of the need to preserve more than just ancient monuments.

    • Indeed more should be done but I guess in this case the church was sold to a private buyer who in turn was trying to sell it on so its out of the state’s control.
