Kilheangul Burial Ground is situated on the Mizen peninsula in west cork, about 3 kilometres from Dunmanus Bay. The graveyard contains the ruins of a late-medieval church with an attractive lintelled window in its south wall. The Church is known as Cill Cheangail, which may mean church of the angels as the Irish for Angel is Aingeal however one cannot be certain. The church may also have been identified in taxation lists from 1199 when it was mentioned as part of the parish of ‘Cellmolaggi’. The graveyard has also been referenced as Kilcarriel in local burial registers. A bullaun stone is recorded as being situated in the graveyard to the west of the church however it appears this may have been covered with overgrowth.
