Situated to the west of the village of Caherconlish stands the graveyard of Inch St Lawrence. There are the remains of the low walls of an old church, already barely visible by 1826, and two ritual wells, only one of which I was able to locate on the day of my visit. One well was proposed to have curative properties especially in relation to stomach and bowel issues, the second was believed to assist with liver complaints and/or scurvy and was dedicated to Saint Laurence. A patron used to be held on the 10th of August as this is Saint Laurence’s Day. The graveyard has some attractive grave markings and headstones.
